We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the beautiful Space Dance Performance performed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Space Dance was a truly fascinating collaboration of Japanese butoh dance, architecture, and media technology.

ニューヨーク国連本部で上演されたスペースダンスの美しい公演に対して、心からのお礼を申し上げます。スペースダンスは、日本の舞踏ダンスと建築とメディアテクノロジーによる真に魅惑的なコラボレーションでありました。

Since the theme is to examine the lifestyle of humankind in space, we expect that it will develop into a wide range of activities such as the fusion of research in different genres and the birth of new lifestyles.

芸術、舞踊という枠を超えているところが東京スペースダンスの活動の興味深い特徴です。人類の宇宙での生活様式を検討することもテーマとして挙げていることから、異なるジャンルの研究の融合や新しい生活習慣などの誕生といった幅広い活動に発展することも期待しています。

Space Dance workshops and performances are a step toward reconnecting human desires with the body in an information society, and above all, they are necessary to ensure the reality that humans need without being distracted by the virtual world. It taught us that we need to “get back into the body.”

『スペースダンス・イン・ザ・チューブ』におけるワークショップと公演とは、情報社会における人間の欲求をふたたび身体に結びつけるためのステップであり、仮想世界に惑わされることなく人間に必要なリアリティを確保していくためには、何よりも「身体に戻る」必要があることを教えていた。

Space Dance gave Ugandan children a valuable experience.We believe that this event allowed Ugandans to learn about a side of Japan that differs from the image they have of Japan, which was very meaningful in terms of promoting the relationship between Japan and Uganda. The Embassy of Japan in Uganda will provide as much cooperation as possible the next time you visit Uganda and hold a performance.

スペースダンスにより、ウガンダの子供たちが貴重な体験を出来ました。今回、ウガンダ人の持つ日本のイメージとは異なる一面をウガンダの人々が知ったことは、日本とウガンダの関係を促進していく上でも大変有意義なことであったと思います。次回ウガンダを訪問されて公演を実施される際にも、在ウガンダ日本国大使館として可能な範囲での協力をしていく所存です。
