Chapter 1; We are seeking to get “New Thought”
/ 第1章; 「新しい知」が求められている

With our society is developing at an accelerated pace as a society of Information, Genome Editing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, also with the Space Age is gradually coming up, several new unknown themes will appear in front of us. Now, a Theme of Virtual Reality that changes the reality in information society, a Theme of Enhancement in medical world, a Theme of Body-Brain in space environment are appearing as the themes that cannot be avoided and passed by. We should recognize that the existing ways will be not useful to solve these themes, or if it will be useful we need the big revisions. I think, for these themes, we need “New Thought” with the combination by Theories about Body, Technology, Design, Humans, and Cosmology.
私たちの社会がゲノム編集・人工知能・ロボット・VR・ARの社会として加速度的に進展し、また宇宙時代が近づくにつれて、私たちの目の前にはいままで経験したことがない新しい問題群が現れてくる。情報社会で生じている仮想化問題も、医療の世界で生じている生体改造問題も、宇宙環境で生じている身体・脳問題も、いよいよ避けることができない大問題として登場を始めているのである。このような問題を扱うためには、既存の方法は役に立たないか、役に立つとしても大幅な改訂が必要になる。私は、これらの問題に対処するためには、新しい身体論・テクノロジー論・デザイン論・人間論・宇宙論の総合による「新しい知」が必要になると考えている。

On the existed thoughts, such as Science Technology and Design that could lead Social Technology, they had a tendency to think that people can deal with the Body singly without the Environment. But, always the Body exists together with the Environment, so we can’t call it as Body that is separated from the Environment. Its contradictions are becoming clear as a problem that the astronaut’s body and brain will become worse in the universe. Also, with too much caution towards the Virtual World and Artificial Body we could know that same kind of contradictions exist in the process to verify the problems of Information Society and Elderly Society.
これまでの知～社会技術をリードしてきた科学技術とデザイン～においては、身体は環境から切断されても身体として扱えるとして考えられてきた側面がつよかった。しかし、身体はつねに環境とともに存在し、環境から切断された身体は身体とはいえない。その矛盾が、宇宙環境では、宇宙飛行士たちが経験する身体劣化という問題として明らかになりつつある。情報社会と高齢社会の問題を検証する過程でも、仮想や人工身体に対する無理解と過度の警戒から同様の矛盾が存在することが明らかになってきた。
So, in this meaning our needed “New Thought” should be a thought that we think the Body together with the Environment as one unity, we can’t find the Body independently without the Environment. The relation between the Body and the Environment is dynamic and amicable more than our usual recognitions.
したがって、私たちに必要な「新しい知」とは、身体を単独で扱う知ではなく、身体を環境とともに一体として考える知である。身体と環境の関係は、これまで考えられてきたよりも動的で、親密である。

I could present this “New Thought” as the thoughts having the following four features as a research representative with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, JAXA from 2004 to 2006 in Tokyo, Japan.
私は、この「新しい知」について、2004年～2006年の宇宙航空研究開発機構(JAXA)との共同研究において、次の四つの特徴をもつ知として提案した。
[a] Environment
“New Thought” teach us that the Body exists always supported by the Space and the Things and the Body can’t exist independently without the Environment.

その知は、身体がつねに空間とモノからのサポートのもとに存在していることを教え、身体は環境との関係ぬきに単独には存在しないことを教える。
[b] Memory
“New Thought” teach us that we can get this thought organizing by the characteristic body’s movements and these movements will awake up “Tacit Knowledge”. Then, this thought teach us that human’s movements involve all memories in far-off days when the humans were the animals.
[b] 記憶
その知は、身体の個性的な動かし方によって得られるもので、個人に蓄積された身体知を目覚めさせ、人間の動きにはかつて動物だった頃の遠い昔の記憶も含まれていることを教える。
[c] Design
“New Thought” teach us that the humans can develop “Body Expansion” according to that we adapt to the things. And, how to decide the adaptation? Its way is a behavior named Design. Also, the humans can realize many designs depend on the numbers of our awareness.

その知は、人間がモノと同化した分だけ「身体の拡張」を実現できることを教え、同化の仕方を決定するものがデザインという行為であり、人間の気づきの数に応じた無数のデザインが可能になることを教える。
[d] Technology
“New Thought” teach us that our today’s human’s dream and desire will decide our future and the way how to use the technologies should decide a direction of the human’s evolution.

その知は、現在の人間がもつ夢と欲望が人間の未来を決定すること、テクノロジーの使用の仕方が人間進化の方向を決定づけることを教える。

From this perspective, we could say that anthropologist Tim Ingold continues to lead the way as one of the pioneers of “New Thought.” In “Being Alive” (2011), he writes:
“Is it possible to re-examine the possibilities of life as a flux thrown into the space with a constantly changing destination? Living is a movement of opening up, and this should be at the heart of anthropology’s concerns. The important thing is that as relations unfold, entities that bring them together are constantly coming into being. Humans fundamentally come into contact with their surroundings when their feet are in contact with the ground, so we must reinstate the world we perceive through our feet. To be alive is to be a tangle of threads and paths, like the movement of a spider. So to separate a spider from its web is same to separate a bird from the air and a fish from the water. The spider, the bird and the fish all die.
Ingold criticized the arrogant attitude of scientists who believe that “there is nothing that science cannot solve.” On the other hand, he also criticized the humanities, including anthropology, for being confined to their own worlds and unable to address real-world problems. Is it possible to integrate natural sciences and the humanities? This was an important issue that permeated his research. He continues to think beyond the traditional framework of anthropology, exploring topics such as humans and animals, the concept of evolution, and the meaning of the environment for humans, and is attracting worldwide attention.
以上の観点から、例えば人類学者ティム・インゴルドは、「新しい知」を担う先行者の一人として現在を走り続けていると言えるだろう。彼は『生きていること』(2011)において次のように書いている。
「行き先がつねに更新されていく宙に投げ出された流転として、生きる事の可能性を新たに捉え直す事はできないか。生きる事は開いていく運動であり、それこそが人類学の関心の中心にあるべきだ。重要なのは、諸関係が展開していくと、それらが結集していくような存在が絶えず生まれていくという事である。人間が根本的に周囲の環境に触れるのは足が地面に接している時であり、足を通して知覚される世界を復権すべきである。生きているとは、クモの動きのように、糸と経路がもつれ合った状態の事である。だからクモをその網から切り離すのは、鳥を空気から、魚を水から切り離すのと同じ事を意味する。クモも、鳥も、魚も、死んでしまう」。
インゴルドは「科学には解決できない問題など何もない」という科学者たちの傲慢な態度を批判した。一方で、自分の世界に閉じこもり現実の問題に対処できない人類学を含めた人文科学も批判した。自然科学と人文学を一体化させる事は出来るのか? それは彼にとって、自身の研究を貫通する重要な問題意識になっていた。彼は、現在も、人間と動物、進化という概念、人間にとっての環境の意味など、従来の文化人類学の枠組みを大きく越える思索を続け、世界的に注目されている。

Jacques Attali, a philosopher who pushed Macron to become president of France said that “in order to live a meaningful life from now, we need to live multiple lives simultaneously and continuously.” I live with the same feeling. It is not a recommendation for division, but a guideline for living in the most luxurious world of the present age when the average life expectancy is 120 years old. Instead of choosing some of our possibilities and giving up on others, realize all of our possibilities. It’s unreasonable, so it deserves the name “Challenge.“
それは、学問の世界だけではなく、「生き方」においても同様である。マクロンをフランスの大統領に押し上げた哲学者ジャック・アタリは、『2030年、ジャック・アタリの未来予測』において「これからの人生を有意義に生きるためには、複数の人生を、同時かつ継続的に送る必要がある。この試みは老化と死を遠ざけるのにきわめて効果的だ」と言っている。私も同じ思いで生きている。それは分裂の勧めではなく、やがて平均寿命が120才になる現代という世界を最高に贅沢に生きる為の指針である。自分の幾つかの可能性を選択して他を諦めるのではなく、あれも、これも、全ての可能性を実現していく事。通常、それはムリである。しかし、だからこそ「挑戦」の名に値する。

Temple Grandin [C-29] [R-15] is a first professor at the university in U.S.A as an autistic person. She made called “Constricted Machine” by woods when she was a high-school student, then she could get a release from a pain of body’s shaking of autism by this machine. On her book “Thinking in Pictures” [R-15] she appeals the dominant value about her favorite “Visual Thinking” than “Language-based Thinking”, and she suggests we can create a new design using by “Visual Thinking”. During the time somebody is speaking she can hear it as “Image”. She can see one object not only from the front but also from the side and the upper same time. Also, she can understand the state of minds of cows and dogs well. Temple could develop the ability of the brain towards another direction from a non-handicapped person, and she could express its condition that we can understand it easy. In this meaning, on this book, she is also one of first-runners who carry “New Thought” which are seeking in our world [R-16] [R-17].
また、自閉症の世界では、高校生の時に「締めつけマシン」を自力で制作し、身体の震えの苦しみから解放されるようになったという自閉症の大学教授テンプル・グランディン[注29][参15]がいる。彼女は著書『Thinking in Pictures』の中で、自分が得意とする「視覚的思考」の「言語ベースの思考」に対する優位性を訴え、「視覚的思考」から新しいデザインを創造できると提案している。彼女は、人が喋っている時にその話しを「映像」として聞くことができるという。一つの対象を、正面からだけでなく、横からも上からも、同時に見ることができるという。また、牛や犬などの動物の気持ちもよくわかるという。テンプルもまた、脳機能を健常者とは違う方向に発達させ、その内容を私たちにも理解できるように表現できている点において、現代世界が必要とする「新しい知」を担う先行者の一人である[参16] [参17]。

In the following chapters, I will consider in detail four areas of “New Thought” that will be necessary in the Space Environment, Aging Society, Biomodification, and Information Society.
私は以下において、宇宙環境・高齢社会・生体改造・情報社会で必要になる4つの「新しい知」について、具体的に考えていく事にする。
Chapter 2; For Universal Environment

On December 2015 Elon Musk [C-30], a delegate of venture business Space X for developing the universe said “I would like to reach the Mars. My dream is to die there.” His emotion towards the universe is very strong, it is supported by his strong will that can overcome any kind of obstacles. But, the humans should take several serious damages to the body and the brain in the universal environment. So, even if we can reach the Mars it will be not sure we can make our enough activities or not as the humans based on today’s technical level of space development.
2015年12月、宇宙開発ベンチャー・スペースXの代表イーロン・マスク[注30]は「私は、火星に行きたい。火星で死ぬのが夢だ」と語っている。イーロンの宇宙への情熱は強烈で、どんな障害ものり越えていくつよい意志に支えられている。しかし、宇宙環境では身体と脳に重大なダメージが生じる可能性が高いため、現在の宇宙開発技術のレベルでは火星に到着できても人間としての活動ができるかどうかは不明のままである。イーロンはじめ世界の富豪たちの数人が語る宇宙旅行と宇宙居住の夢も、宇宙では身体が劣化するという深刻な問題を軽視していて実現の可能性がない。

From my view point as a Butoh-Space Dance Choreographer, the greatest result of the space development until today is finding a “Chance to organize a Gravity” by the creation of artificial gravity through several astronauts experiences that could realize the experiences of non-gravity environment in the space walk and at a spaceship, also they could experience 1/6 gravity on the Moon. Edwin Aldrin, one of first astronauts of NASA who could reach the ground of Moon on 1969 said “My body is light now, when I start a running I can’t stop! Also I can calm down with my slanting posture!” His reactions about Moon Walking are very interesting for me.
私のスペースダンス舞踏家としての観点からは、現在までの宇宙開発の最大の成果は、宇宙飛行士たちが宇宙遊泳やスペースシャトルで無重力環境を体験し、また月において六分の一の重力環境を体験したことによる、人工重力の創出による「重力調整のチャンスを手に入れたこと」である。1969年に最初の月着陸を果たしたNASAの宇宙飛行士バズ・オルドリンは「身体が軽くなり、走り出したら止まらない。斜めになったまま静止することもできる」と語っており、彼のムーンウォーキングの感想は大変に面白い。「」と言って一躍時の人となった「」よりも、ここではオルドリンの方がずっと魅力的である。
If the humans start to come and go to the conditions between 0 gravity and 1 gravity in the universe this happening will be a complete first experience in our human’s history. So, like a case of the fish that could get the evolution by the advance to the ground, this happening will be a special drama on a stage of the evolution such a “Challenge to the Step for Next Human”. If we have a possibility of the “Next” as the humans it will be started by such an adventure of the new creation of the postures [C-31].
人間が宇宙でゼロ重力と一重力の間を自分の意志で自由に往来することになれば、それは人間の歴史には存在しなかったまったく新しい出来事になる。魚が陸に進出して両生類に進化した場合に似て、「人間の次のステップへのチャレンジ」という、進化の舞台上の特別のドラマに結びつく可能性がある。人間に｢次｣が存在するなら、それはこのような新しい姿勢形成の冒険によって始まるだろう[注31]。

Through “New Thought” we can understand easy about a delicate problem called “Deterioration of the Body” that the astronauts experience in the universal environment. Because the body has been growing up under 1 gravity condition on the Earth, always the body makes one unity with the environment on the Earth.
「新しい知」により、宇宙環境において宇宙飛行士たちが体験する「身体の劣化」というやっかいな問題もとても理解しやすくなる。それは、人間の身体は地球の一重力環境で育ってきたからで、いまも地球環境と不分離だからである。
If we use the relation between “Root of a Tree” and “Soil” as a metaphor, the body thrown out in the universal environment without this relation will be same to “Root of a Tree” thrown out in the air without “Soil.” So, soon the body will wither. If we need to do it at any cost we should bring the body together with “Soil”.
この関係を無視して無防備に宇宙環境に投げ出された身体とは、「木の根」と「土」の関係に喩えるなら、「土」のない中空に放り出された「木の根」と同じで、すぐに枯れてしまう。どうしてもそうしたいなら、「土」とともに持ち出す必要がある。
Moreover, if we state to realize a “Creation of Universal Culture overcome the contradictions of Earth Culture”, sure, we need to prepare the rich soil more than the soil on the Earth. If it is same soil we only reproduce same Earth Culture with same contradictions.
さらに、人間が「地球文化の矛盾を克服した宇宙文化の創造」をめざすと宣言するかぎり、地球の「土」以上の優れた「土」を用意する必要がある。「土」が同じであれば、また同じ矛盾をもつ地球文化が宇宙で再生産されるだけだからである。

I know one American movie “Gravity” [R-18] on 2013. This movie is a story about one astronaut who had thrown out in a space by the accident of a space ship, but she could return to the earth by a miracle. At the last of this movie is wonderful, she made a print of her hand on the sand at a seaside where she could be washed ashore, and a with a big joy she stood up with unsteady faltering steps like an amphibian that could land on the ground as a first runner at the ancient times, then she made big thanks to the ground and she walk slowly on the ground firmly step by step.
2013年のアメリカ映画『グラビティ』[参18]。宇宙船の事故で宇宙空間に放り出され、奇跡的に地球に帰還できた一人の宇宙飛行士の物語である。映画の最後で、彼女は、漂着した海辺で自分の手で砂に手型をつけ、喜びにあふれ、大昔に最初に陸に上がった両生類のような頼りない感じでヨロヨロと立ち上がり、大地に感謝し、大地を踏みしめてゆっくりと歩く。
This scene has a vivid impression and this movie is an emotional “Story of Return” to the Earth. She could return back to her beloved home. She never repeats a “Same Fault”. She recognized “Ground” is essential for our humans. If we can’t organize a “Development” that grows up the amicable relationship with “Ground”, any kind of developments will be invalidity and it will bring the death to us. This movie could hint its fact to us excellently [C-32].
このシーンが特別に印象的で、感動的な地球への「帰還の物語」になっている。彼女は懐かしい人間の場所に帰ってきた。もう「同じ過ち」は繰り返さない。人間には「大地」が不可欠だ。「大地」との親密な関係を発展させる宇宙開発でない限り、どんな開発も無効であり、人間に容赦なく「死」をもたらす。その事実をこの映画は見事に暗示している[注32]。
Chapter 3; For Aging Society and Genome Editing
/ 第3章; 高齢社会と生体改造に対して
Now Medical Service will open a new door of our human’s history using by iPS cell, Genome Editing and so on. The body is being in the spotlight as the object of “Regeneration” and “Industrialization”.
iPS細胞やゲノム編集により、医療が新しい歴史の扉を開けようとしている。身体は「改造」と「産業化」の対象として、これまでとはまったく違う注目を浴びはじめている。

On 2012 at London Olympic Games Oscar Pistorius, a runner with the artificial leg, shocked the whole world because he could get a good record closed in the records of the non-handicapped runners. Now we have a forecast that some runner with the artificial leg will overtake a world record of Usain Bolt at Tokyo Olympic Games on 2020. So, we know someone started to talk that we should forbid the use of the artificial leg in Olympic Games, it is OK only in Paralympic Games. We can understand this attitude will be natural, but we should see more exactly because we find a deep-rooted distinction towards handicapped people from non-handicapped people there. Why non-handicapped people want to continue to control handicapped people indefinitely? If the record by a handicapped runner is a problem I would like to suggest that it is OK non-handicapped people will use the artificial leg too? Or, they should develop more useful new artificial leg? The new topic about “Distinction between Handicapped and Non- handicapped” also about “Difference between Artificial and Natural” has started [C-33].
2012年のロンドンオリンピックに出場した義足ランナーのオスカー・ピストリウスが健常の選手に迫る記録を出し、世界中を驚かせた。2021年に延期して開催された東京オリンピックでは、義足ランナーがウサイン・ボルトの世界記録を抜くのではないかという予想も現れた。そのような事態を心配し、パラリンピック以外には「義足」の使用は禁止すべきだという意見も出はじめた。これは自然な対応のように見えても、そこには健常者による障害者の世界に対する根深い差別が残されている。なぜいつまでも健常者が障害者の行為を管理しようとするのか? 義足ランナーの記録が心配なら、健常者も義足を使用すればいいだけの事ではないか? 義足よりさらに効果のある人工の足を開発してもいいのではないか? こうして、「健常と障害の区別」や「人工と自然の差」についての新しい議論がはじまっている[注33]。
Modern Design could reach the concepts of Barrier-free Design and Universal Design, but now they are seeking to deal with these difficult problems too. In that time, without distinction of non-handicapped people, handicapped people, and elderly people, maybe Modern Design will be not able to work well if they don’t adopt the ideas about the individuality and the party. Also, we will see same condition in the case of the body care for elderly people. Because in our society in tomorrow elderly people will be not always “Weak Person”, the number of “Strong Person” as a new type will increase. As we know “Strong Person” don’t need too much care.
現代デザインは、バリアフリーやユニバーサルデザインの概念に辿り着いたが、いまではこれらの難題にも対処できるように求められている。これからの現代デザインは、健常者・障害者・高齢者の区別にかかわらず、個別性や当事者性の発想も取り入れなければ、うまく機能しなくなる。高齢者に対する身体ケアでも、今後の高齢者は「弱者」だけであるとは限らず、新しいタイプの「強者」も増える。「高齢者=弱者」とするデザインは再考を迫られることになる。

Moreover, on 2015 Anthony James, a molecule biologist, announced a sensational big news that he could get a success to create a new mosquito that don’t need the intermediation with a malaria parasite by Genome Edition. So, on December 2015 many scientists from the world come to Washington, capital of U.S.A. to discuss about the ethical standards of Genome Edition [C-34].
さらに、2015年には、分子遺伝学者アンソニー・ジェームズによる、ゲノム編集によりマラリア原虫を媒介しない新しい蚊を,つくることに成功したという衝撃的な発表が行われた。その為、その年の12月には世界中の科学者がアメリカの首都ワシントンに集り、ゲノム編集についての倫理的問題が議論された[注34]。
At last, Humans has gotten a “Technology to handle All Species of the Creatures”.
いよいよ人間が「あらゆる生物種を操作できる技術」を手に入れてしまった。
It is said that Genome Edition is a big technology once in hundred years in our human’s history. Many scientists are wondering about this technology that Genome is a valuable legacy through the long history of the evolution, so if we handle it, maybe some irrecoverable thing will happen and we can’t return it to the original condition [C-35] [R-19].
ゲノム編集は100年に一度の大技術といわれ、「生物のゲノムは長い進化の歴史を経て形成された貴重な遺産であり、それを操作すれば元に戻すことは困難であり、取り返しがつかないことが起きる」と心配されているのだ[注35] [参19]。

However, when we face to this big theme such as Enhancement by Genome Edition, even if we find some ethical problem, but if the concerned party receive the Enhancement well, it will be going difficult to stop it from the outside. Because the way how to treat the individual body will be free for everybody, they don’t need any kind of permissions to do it including a makeup, a cosmetic surgery, and a drug, also a tattoo, a body pierce, a doing injury to the body, at last a suicide. So, nobody can oppose to it basically. By taking the Enhancement if we can get back our health, or if we can get the body ability more beyond the natural condition, and if we don’t have any side effects after the operation, also if we will be able to control a long life freely, it will be just a realization of our human’s long dream. In that time, we can’t find any kind of reasons for opposition, everybody will jump at the Enhancement.
しかし、このようなゲノム編集によるエンハンスメント（生体改造）という大テーマでも、今後は倫理的に問題がある場合にも、それが当事者にとって受容できるかぎり、次第に「外部」から「待て」をかけることが困難になっていく。化粧や整形美容やクスリの使用をはじめ、刺青やピアスや身体損傷や自殺を含め、個人の身体をどう扱うかは「個人の自由」であるため、基本的には誰も反対できない。生体改造を実施して少しでも身体を回復でき、あるいは生得以上の身体能力を獲得し、術後に副作用もなく、しかも長生きについてもある程度自由に調整できるというような事態になれば、それは人間の長年の夢の実現であり、反対すべき理由は何もない。間違いなく、多くの人びとが躊躇なく飛びつくことになる。

The news of “Clone Dog Sales” by Korean biological company in 2014 surprised the world. I saw this news on a television of NHK as a special edition, but I understood every pet owners keep their earnest emotions to get back their lost dogs even if dogs are clones. The clones live in another environment, so they should become another dog, but for the pet owners they are almost same dogs. So they can image to redoing their life with their pets. And, depend on the advance of the cloning technology they can keep a dream to realize “Favorite Dogs they like” improved the faults of last their lovely dogs. If they can regulate their feelings to worry too much about the originality it will be wonderful. Also maybe we will see the owners who get the plural clone dogs.
2014年の韓国の生体企業による「クローン犬販売」のニュースも、世界を驚かせた。日本ではNHKの特集番組でも放映されたが、クローンでも愛犬を手に入れたいと願う飼い主たちの気持ちには切実なものがあった。別の環境を生きるため別の犬になることがわかっていても、ほとんど「同じ犬」であることに違いはない。飼い主にはやり直しが出来ると思える。そして、クローン技術がさらに進めば、愛犬の欠点を改良した「私好みの改良版」を誕生させることも夢ではない。オリジナルにこだわる気持ちを調整できれば、飼い主にはさらに素晴らしいことになる。クローン犬を複数もつ飼い主も出てくるに違いない。
More over, if the subject is not “Dog” but “Humans”, how to do? It is already anticipated that cloned humans will appear in the near future. If we can cover our lost lovers with its clones, can we control the urge to wish to see them even in clones? English writer Kazuo Ishiguro who received the Nobel Prize for literature in 2017, wrote a sad story of clone boys and girls who were born to offer their internal organs to the humans in his novel “Never Let Me Go” [R-20]. They didn’t have any skills to do against the organization that caused them to be born, because they were children, but in the case of adult cloned humans?
さらに、対象が「犬」ではなく、「人間」の場合はどうなるか? 近い将来にクローン人間が登場することは既に予想されている。亡き恋人をクローン人間で補えるとしたら? 私たちはクローンでも会いたいと願う衝動を抑えられるだろうか? 2017年度のノーベル文学賞を受賞したカズオ・イシグロの『わたしを離さないで』[参20]では、人間への臓器提供を目的として誕生させられたクローンの少年少女たちの悲しい物語が描かれている。彼らは子供たちで自分たちを誕生させた組織に対して為す術もなかったが、大人のクローン人間の場合には? 自分を誕生させた人間たちに対してどのように振る舞うことになるだろうか? 現在のままの体制でも人間の思い通りに進行するという考えは、大きな挫折を味わう事になるだろう。

現在、メタやグーグルなどは、スマートフォン利用によるネット接続を通したプラットフォームの覇権獲得にしのぎを削っている。世界中の利用者たちを「仮想国民」と見立て、彼らがもつビッグデータを手に入れ商用利用に役立てるためである。一方で、このようなビッグデータが権力に利用されることで、近い将来に完全な「監視社会」が訪れる恐怖についても指摘されている。

From now, in addition to the image, Virtual Reality and Extended Reality will permeate into our society with the spread of a display for a retina, a glass screen, and a head set, then our daily life will change based in the auditory environment and the visual environment more and more.
このようなビッグデータ利用の問題も含め、情報社会における「仮想化の進展」が懸案の課題になってきた。人間は現在ほど情報を仮想として日常の世界に浸透させたことはなかった。PC利用かスマートフォン利用かに拘らず、ネット上でメールやブログにより一日の大半の時間を過ごす者たちは、ネット世界を「もう一つリアル」として日々成長させている。かつてのウォークマンにはじまり、ipodなどの愛用者たちは、人工的な音で現実の音を遮断し、現実体験を変容させている。今後はそこに映像も加わり、網膜ディスプレイやメガネスクリーンやヘッドセットなどの普及により、VRやARが現実世界に浸透し、私たちの日常生活は聴覚環境と視覚環境を中心にもっと大きく変化する。

したがって、過剰にAIを警戒するのではなく、過剰に期待するのでもなく、AIの進展は脳の仕組みの解明にも役立つという観点から、必要なだけ利用すればいい。一番興味深い点は、AIが人間の知性を超えたと思わせる結果を出した場合にも、それはブラックボックス化されており、人間にも分からず、AIにも分からないという点である。このブラックボックスの解明から、人間がAIから学び、人間には不足している要素を人間の新しい能力として追加できる可能性が出てくる。それは、人間がもつ自らの最大の「ブラックボックス=意識」という謎の解明にも役立つはずだ。

Any problems on the ground are complicated and difficult to understand. As everyone knows, the future of mankind is not rosy. Earth problems such as conflicts between countries, which never stops, religious conflict, ethnic conflict, terrorism, disease, poverty, winning of winners, destruction of the environment, etc. are complicatedly intertwined and we can not find the way how to solve these problems.
地球上で現在起きている問題は、どれを取っても複雑で、わかりにくくなっている。誰もが知るように、人類の未来はバラ色ではない。絶えることがない国家間の紛争、宗教的対立、民族紛争、テロ、病気、貧困、勝者の奢り、人口増加、環境破壊などの地球問題は、原因が複雑に絡み合い、解決できる見通しは立っていない。
We are still living a world in which there is a danger that the earth will be covered with the ashes of death with just one nuclear button. Even if we leave the real world and find “Another Earth” on the net, even if we acquire “New Freedom” as a net person, there is no change in being bound as a member of a real nation. 私たちは、依然として核のボタンひとつで地球が死の灰に覆われる危険のある世界を生きている。リアルな世界を離れネット上に「もう一つの地球」を見出し、ネット人間として「新しい自由」を手に入れても、現実の国家の一員として縛られていることに変化はない。海外への自由な往来は許されず、誰もが「国家という権力＝パスポート」で厳重に管理されている。ネットの中で得る自由と国家における自由はまったくの別物である[注38]。

地球がダメになる場合も想定した宇宙への進出も、現在のままでは地球での過ちを宇宙にもちこむだけに終わる事は明白である。アメリカ等の大国は相変わらず自国優先の宇宙政策を掲げ、核を宇宙に持ち出し始めている。近未来映画の多くは、人類が滅亡した荒廃した地球の風景を描き続けている。2007年に出版されベストセラーになったアラン・ワイズマンの『人類が消えた日』[参21]は、人類が消えた後の地球の姿を克明に描いて説得力がある。人間の多くの努力は無駄になり、そのまま宇宙の闇に消えていく運命なのかもしれない。

Also, Freeman Dyson, an astrophysicist, about a genetic technology, from a view point which we need to keep the “Harmony of the Humans” said that increasing genetically engineered children is to accelerate the evolution of humans rapidly, which can lead to worst results, then he expressed a negative thinking about a genetic technology. But, in our today’s world with rapidly developing technology it is not so clear how many populations are appropriate for the earth. Because we have several new possibilities about the foods and the place of residence, it will be possible that new artificial foods will be developed along with space food, and the new places of residence may be reclaimed. Also, genetic technology does not necessarily disturb “Harmony of the Humans”. Contrary to Freeman Dyson’s concern the genetically engineered children may show the needed new answers for “Harmony of the Humans” [R-22].
かつて人類学者クロード・レヴィ=ストロースは、「環境問題としての人口問題」という観点から、自分が生まれた時に15億人だった世界の人口が当時60億人になっていた点に触れ、「人が地球上に現れて以来、これ以上の災厄が他の生命体と人類に降りかかったことはない」と述べ、人口の際限のない増加に警鐘を鳴らした。また、宇宙物理学者フリーマン・ダイソンは、遺伝子テクノロジーについて「人類の調和」を保つ必要があるという観点から「遺伝子操作された子供たちが増えることはヒトの進化を急速に促進することであり、最悪の結果を招きかねない」と述べ、否定的な考えを示した。
しかし、地球にとり何人の人口が適当なのか、テクノロジーが急速に進展する現代にあっては、宇宙食と共に新しい人工食料が開発される可能性もあり、また新しい居住地が開拓されないとも限らず、不明である。また、遺伝子テクノロジーが「人類の調和」を乱すとは限らず、フリーマン・ダイソンの心配とは逆に、遺伝子操作された子供たちが「人類の調和」のために必要な新しい解答を示すかも知れない[参22]。

こうして、世界の進行は早く、道徳や倫理の境界は曖昧になり、世界の知性も相対化され、効力を失い、次々に人間は新しい問題の前に立たされていく。どこかに人間中心のエゴを隠しもっているのでもなく、地球の一部地域の宗教的価値観を世界に押しつけるのでもなく、新しい技術が登場するたびに驚いて自己の体系を修正するのでもなく、必要なテクノロジーについては自分たちで選択し、あるいは開発し、自分たちの身体と環境を自分たちで進化させ、それで必要な責任はすべて自分たちで背負い、もっと自信をもって世界の新しいあり方にシフトしていける方法はないのか。

In the world, the rumors say that “Cloned Humans” and “Brain Remodeled Humans” are already born, and robot soldiers are about to appear next to the unmanned airplane for attack. A completely new kind of human beings will be born or the possibility of a robot performing a war on behalf of human beings will be approaching reality.
ゲノム編集、脳改造、人工知能、ロボット工学などのテクノロジーも、同様の局面に立たされていく。世界では、すでにクローン人間たちや脳改造された人間たちが誕生しているとの噂も流れ、攻撃用の無人飛行機の次にロボット兵士も登場しようとしている。その意味で、確実に人類は重大な局面を迎えている。まったく新しい人間の種が誕生したり、人間の代わりに戦争を遂行するロボットが登場する可能性が現実に近づいているからである。

In our new world, the technology can’t determine the future of human beings. On the contrary, humans decide the future of technology. The history of human beings is becoming a characteristic period as “Human’s Dreams decide Next Evolution” more than ever. Some will make mistakes, ridiculous results. Some will succeed. 私たちの新しい世界では、テクノロジーが人間の未来を決定するのではない。逆に、人間がテクノロジーを決定するのである。人間の歴史は、これまでにも増して、「人間の夢のもち方が次の進化を決定する」という特徴的な時代になっていく。ある者は誤り、とんでもない結果をひき起こすだろう。ある者は成功するだろう。誤る者たちがひき起こす害を最小限に抑えるためにも、多くの成功事例が世界に登場していく必要がある。

こうして、問題の核心は、予想したくない事態が起きたときにどうするかという対策とマップを事前に用意しておくことだ。テクノロジーを悪利用しても、100年後には滅んでいること。ゲノム編集で生体のどんな改造に成功しても、その生体との親和性を築けなければムダなこと。何の準備もなく宇宙に進出しても、滅ぶ運命にあること。その新しい知のマップが正確に形成されているほど、私たちが誤る道も軽減される。楽天的な見通しを掲げるほど、このマップは曖昧なものになる。
